SPOTS OF INTERESTLAGOON OF PITILLASThe lagoon occupies 255 hectares and is situated 4 km from the national road N-121 between Pitillas and Santacara This humid area is one of the most important nature enclaves in Navarre and it was declared “Nature Reserve” in year 1987; it is also included on the “Ramsar Agreement” an international agreement which aims to preserve and to protect humid areas
ROMAN VILLAGE OF CARA It is situated 2 km from Mélida, in Santacara lay the roman remains of the ancient village of Cara which belong to I-IV centuries
LAGOON OF RADA The lagoon of Rada is situated few km from Mélida and close to the dam “El Ferial”; you will be able to enjoy tranquillity in a place where there are tables and spit roasters so as to have a wonderful time with your family
ANCIENT VILLAGE OF RADA The remains of the ancient village of Rada, belonging to XI-XIV centuries are situated on the top of a hill between Mélida and Caparroso. ROMANESQUE CHURCH OF SAN MARTÍN OF UNXThe church of San Martín of Unx, which is not very far from Olite, is considered one of the most charming of the Romanesque of Navarre. It is a building belonging to the XII century. MONASTERY OF LA OLIVAThe historic and monumental whole of "La Oliva” abbey stands among fields of cereal and vineyards as a spiritual testimony as well as alive and as bulwark of plentiful both past and present. Its internal cloister must be stressed CASTLE OF OLITE
There is no doubt that the real palace of Olite is the most important testimony which we, the people of Navarre, have as a remembrance of our past. We can feel much closer the history of the ancient kingdom of Navarre while walking among its walls and towers. Although it is well known to be a “castle” it should be referred to as a “palace” since it is courtesan edification where the residential aspects predominated. TUDELA
Tudela was born in year 802, thanks to the efforts of Amrus ibn Yusuf al-Muwalad under the rule of Al-Hakan I. Nowadays, Tudela enjoys an excellent geographic situation, on the banks of river Ebro next to the channel of Lodosa and the starting of both the channels of Tauste and Imperial and the crossroads of the highway of the Ebro and that of Navarre together with a prosperous agricultural region equidistant from Pamplona, Lorgroño, Soria and Zaragoza
